NWLC History
Northwest Leather Celebration was created as a weekend conference in 2008 to serve as the host for the Northwest Master slave contest. The first Northwest Leather Celebration, owned by smOdyssey and produced by Ms Margaret and Erich, was held in May of 2008 in Sunnyvale, CA.
NWLC outgrew the Sunnyvale location and moved to the DoubleTree Hotel in San Jose beginning with our 2011 event. In 2016, smOdyssey relinquished ownership of NWLC to Erich, who asked Ms Rhonda and Tomo to partner with him to produce the event.
Northwest Leather Celebration moved to Sacramento, California in 2018. In July 2022, Tomo moved on to own and produce South Plains Leatherfest. In August 2023, Erich moved on to devote more time to his family. Northwest Leather Celebration is now owned and produced by Ms Rhonda.
Northwest Bootblack
In May 2018, Northwest Leather Celebration became the host of the Northwest Bootblack Contest. Northwest Bootblack titleholders provide outreach, service and education to the community in celebration of the art and culture of bootblacking. The Northwest has a rich Bootblack title history with the Northwest Community Bootblack title and the Northern California Community Bootblack title. Northwest Leather Celebration is proud to provide a home to the bootblack title system with the Northwest Bootblack Contest.
Previous Northern California and Northwest Bootblack titles prior to NWLC:

The first Northwest Master slave Contest was held at smOdyssey’s Folsom Fringe weekend conference in San Jose, CA in September of 2006. The second Northwest Master slave Contest was held as a stand-alone event in a Silicon Valley community dungeon in August of 2007.

In 2016, smOdyssey relinquished ownership of the Northwest Master slave Contest back to International. Ownership was transferred by International to Erich, Ms Rhonda, and Tomo, who held a stand-alone contest at a community center in San Jose in 2017 before moving the contest to its new home in Sacramento, California.

The Northwest Person of Leather Contest was added to the Northwest Leather Celebration weekend in May of 2019. Northwest Person of Leather is a celebration of the diversity in the Leather Community.
